We service properties every 1 week in the summer because it takes more time, debris, and chemicals to service a property every 2 weeks. We did when we first started, and it was a learning experience. Here are the (very honest) reasons why we do not service properties every 2 weeks in the Summer:

  • The grass is higher after 2 weeks so after we mow, we typically must blow off or rake the grass which translates into more time per service. Sometimes we even have to mow twice to make your yard look good, especially if you are doing fertilizer.
  • We must trim 2 sides every time we are there (we only trim 1 side every time for weekly clients) which translates into A LOT more time per service
    • Not only are we trimming 2 sides, but the shrubs have also grown more after 2 weeks which translates into more debris to haul away per service.
  • There are more weeds in the beds which translates into more chemicals and more time to apply them per service.
  • Imagine this scenario… You are on the schedule every 14 days, and it POURS on days 12, 13, and 14. It may take up to 20 days to get to your property. And then we have you, an upset customer because their grass is too long, and an upset crew that is working 12 hours days in 105-degree weather, doing their best to catch up and they have to spend an hour on a property that wanted to go every 2 weeks, just to save money.
    • We charge PER service (Minimum is $50) and we AVERAGE 25-30 services per year.
      • Using our minimum price, this averages to $105-$125 per month if paid on a flat fee, “contract” basis.
      • We can confidently say that we are reasonably priced using these numbers. It is just a different business model than the “other” guys. Using the minimum price again, your bill may be anywhere between $250 (for those months with 5 weeks) during the summer to $50 in the winter.
      • If you really want to be on a flat fee contract, contact us at info@diamondlawncareservices.com.
  • We have a chart on our website that shows the average number of services we complete each month. If we drive by and the yard is not ready to be cut and we cannot justify a service, we will not cut it. But we leave that to the discretion of our crew leader.
  • If customers wish to pause services in the fall and resume in the spring, a spring cleanup fee will be assessed before starting regular maintenance. The fall, winter, and early spring are when we do the specialty pruning, thinning, and limbing up of shrubs. We DO NOT stop services.
    • In the wintertime, you would think it takes LESS time to service your property, but it takes even MORE time to service a property because we must blow the leaves out of the beds first BEFORE we can mow.
    • In the fall, winter, and early spring, when the grass is dormant, we have time to work on items that we do not have time to do in the growing season. We thin out (prune out suckers) and limb up shrubs (make sure nothing is touching the ground), prune dead out of shrubs, dig out vines by the roots, prune perennials like lantana and small grasses, as well as some other items that are on the “not included” list. It just depends on how LONG it will take and how much DEBRIS will need to be hauled away. We will send you an estimate if it falls outside of a “normal” service. You can find this list, here, on our FAQ pages.
